Ruby’s Jamaican Kitchen Brings a Taste of the Caribbean to Alexandria

A Caribbean vacation might not be in the cards this year, but a trip to newly opened Ruby’s Jamaican Kitchen might give you all the island vibes you need. This catering business-turned-restaurant opened this year, and serves delicious Jamaican food with plenty of flavor and flair. There are menu options you will likely recognize, like jerk chicken, pepper steak, and Fricassee stew, but also a few that you might not have had before. Try the fish patties and coco bread, or the ackee and saltfish, a spicy stir fry of cod and Jamaica’s national fruit.
Ruby’s Jamaican Kitchen serves hefty portions of authentic food at especially reasonable prices. The Jamaican patties are just $5 for two, and savory jerk wraps are all under $10. And large servings of sides like collard greens, fried plantains, and rice and peas are just $6. You should grab a couple of extras of those to stash in your refrigerator for leftovers all week. Ruby’s Jamaican Kitchen is closed Sundays and Mondays, but open for lunch or dinner the rest of the week. Find this new offering on Schooley Drive, behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement.
