Ready for a walk through history, while perusing the freshest produce from local farmers? Then plan a trip to the Old Town Farmers Market! This is the oldest farmer’s market in the country to be continuously held at the same location – the same site where George Washington sent his produce from Mount Vernon to be sold here.
They pride themselves in offering a taste of history while also connecting the local farmers to you. The farmers are all within 100 miles and they each bring their own delicious fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, potted plants, soaps, art and more. They are following Covid protocols by social distancing, spacing out the vendor tents, have one-way aisles and are requiring masks. You can also pre-order from several of the local vendors. Old Town Farmers Market, located in Market Square in front of City Hall, is open every Saturday morning, rain or shine! Grab your large tote, a friend and head on down to enjoy the freshness for yourself.
